Magda Kowalczyk has been working in the film industry for over 15 years, the last 10 years based in the UK.
She graduated from the Polish National Film School in Lodz as a Director of Photography in 2010 and the Budapest Cinematography Masterclass in 2011. Also she did the prestigious documentary course at Wajda Studio in 2005.
Her mother, film director, editor, and photographer Katarzyna Maciejko-Kowalczyk was her best teacher.
She collaborated ,over a number of years, with director Andrea Arnold on her first Feature Documentry that was produced by Kat Mansoor “COW”. It’s a very a close-up portrait of the daily life of a cow called Luma at a dairy farm in rural England. “COW”had it’s world premiere at The Cannes Film Festival in 2021.
Magda was was nominated for BEST CINEMATOGRAPHY at BIFA in 2021!
Other credits include “HIGH & LOW-JOHN GALLIANO” and “LAST SONG FROM KABUL” both directed by Kevin Macdonald.
Magda filmed for Scott Morris in Poland shooting for the Tate with artist “MALGORZATA MIRGA-TAS”.
Magda shot a Feature Film “POLYORAMA” in Reykjavik produced by Arnar Benjamin Kristjánsson/Sagafilm ehf with Kjartan Thor Thordarson and Skarphéðinn Guðmundsson serving as executive producers (dir Graeme Maley).

Magda filmed a Feature documentary “ANTIHEROINE” ,that is part of the line up and it will Premiere at Sundance 2026, produced by Dorothy Street Pictures,Julia Nottingham,Melanie Archer & Hattie Bridges (directors Edward Lovelace and James Hall).
